Marie McKinnon, a senior at Hopkins High School, was participating in her first varsity basketball scrimmage back in November 2012, when she collided with a fellow teammate. Marie cracked her skull above her right eye, and her teammate broke her orbital bone. Both suffered concussions from the collision.
Marie says that her three months as part of Mary Free Bed Rehabilitation Hospital’s Sports Concussion Program has been a great experience, that her balance has improved significantly, and that the staff at Mary Free Bed really connected with her. “I felt like I wasn’t just another number.”
